Ishar Year in Review 2024

Ishar’s Highlights for 2024

Year of Growth and Impact

The past year has been a transformative period for Ishar, marked by significant growth and an expanded reach in supporting vulnerable women and families from refugee and migrant backgrounds. Our commitment to enhancing women’s health services culminated in securing new funding from the WA Department of Health, allowing us to launch critical services in Cannington. This milestone was celebrated with the official opening on October 4, 2023, by Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson, marking a proud moment in our history.

Successful Initiatives and Events

In addition to launching our new services, we hosted our second International Women’s Day breakfast, focusing on gender equity and economic empowerment. Over 150 attendees participated, engaging with insightful panel discussions featuring leaders from various sectors. Special thanks to the Minderoo Foundation for sponsoring the event.

Infrastructure Enhancements

We undertook extensive renovations at both our Cannington and Mirrabooka premises to better serve our clients. The successful transformation of these spaces was made possible by grants from the Office of Multicultural Interests and Lotterywest. We are grateful to our dedicated team members who worked tirelessly to ensure minimal disruption during these renovations.

Service Delivery and Community Engagement

In the 2023-2024 period, Ishar provided services to over 2,000 clients representing 116 ethnicities. Our offerings included women’s health services, family and domestic violence support, and youth empowerment initiatives. Additionally, we executed 17 projects aimed at skills development for women, mental health support for specific ethnic communities, and fostering community harmony through multicultural events.

Leadership Development

Our CEO, Andrea Creado, participated in the prestigious Social Impact Leadership Program, focusing on transformational leadership and systems thinking. This program, which included a 3-month sabbatical, was supported by the Board and Step-Up Leader Rehab Ahmed, to whom we extend our deepest gratitude.
